Film Criticism is an integral part of Cinema. However, the growth of Online Platforms has brought a revolution in the picturesque of film criticism. Many challenges and opportunities have impacted film criticism through digital platforms. 

The Standardization of Critique: 
This is the most important change brought by online platforms. In the past, film criticism was reputed and dominated by well-known publications. Now, with the upcoming rise of blogs, social media and websites like Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb, anyone from anywhere can share their opinions and knowledge about and around a film. These standards have developed two voices in film criticism, which allows many perspectives and interpretations which are heard in surroundings.

Social Media Power: 
Platforms like Twitter, Instagram and YouTube have powerful tools for film criticism in the digital age. The people related to film criticism get engaged in discussions and share reactions, which gets global reach. Many hashtags and keywords have taken place for cinema lovers and communities to share their opinions, and ideas and also debate them. There are many platforms where movie-lovers can share their reviews which is the social media strength and can’t be avoided. Some viewers also direct messages to film-related people which includes anything that might be a troll or an appreciation.

Challenges faced during Film Criticism: 
When online platforms get reach, there are many challenges too. While the website gets reach it also comes with click ads and headlines over viral content which affects the continuity and the mental state of the avid readers. Some which are untraceable or in disguise create a toxic environment for the filmmakers through harassment or abuse through trolling. Also, it becomes difficult to understand informed criticism and uninformed opinions which leads to confusion. 

The Film Journalism: 
When we say the digital age, it is important to take an advanced step in film journalism too. As of now, many platforms where critics can publish reviews, interviews and much material related to print media. Some have launched Podcasts and videos, which audiences get engaged with and also interact in comment sections. This change also affects revenue generation, which might be sometimes low or high, causing uncertainty with jobs and editorial experiences.

Lastly, When we look at the impact of online platforms on film criticism, it has transformed the practice of film criticism which goes in two ways positions good and bad. At times, it is necessary to develop more creativity, interaction and access to everyone and everything, but it also brings more challenges and complex situations, which might or not be easy for the generation to cope with. However, the future of film criticism in the digital age can be shaped by a collective effort to make strong mindsets and keep honesty in the work we do.
