Envisioning Nirvana: Darpan 3.0 Unfolds at SIES College, Nerul

The Counselling Committee of SIES (Nerul) College of Arts, Science, and Commerce (Autonomous) recently hosted its flagship event, 'Darpan 3.0,' a four-day national conclave that aimed to delve into the depths of mental health. The event took place from the 4th to the 8th of January 2024 at the college campus in Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

The overarching theme of 'Nirvana' set the tone for insightful discussions and engaging activities aimed at promoting mental peace and well-being among participants. Each day, from 11 am to 4 pm, was meticulously planned to offer a diverse range of sessions and experiences.

Day 1: "Preachings from Gita and Spiritualism"
The event commenced with an illuminating workshop by Prabhuji Shri Sukhishore Sudama, focusing on the teachings from the Gita and their practical applications in everyday life.

Day 2: "Wisdom of Swami Vivekananda and Movie Screening"
Swami Devkantiyanad shared timeless principles inspired by Swami Vivekananda, enlightening attendees about his wisdom that continues to motivate and guide the youth. Additionally, a movie screening of "12th Fail" added a cinematic dimension to the day, providing a platform for discussions around mental health depicted in the movie.

Day 3: "Indian Mythology and Talent Hunt"
Advocate Maya Gopal delivered captivating lectures exploring the influential role of Indian mythology in shaping the character of the Indian millennial generation. Simultaneously, a vibrant talent hunt program added a creative flair to the event, allowing students to showcase their diverse talents and fostering a sense of inclusivity and celebration of individuality.

Day 4: "Engaging with Special Abilities"
The event concluded on a heartwarming note with a visit to the Jagruti Palak Sanstha, an NGO supporting specially-abled children. Participants immersed themselves in spending valuable time with these special children, fostering a sense of empathy and understanding.

Registration for the event was open to all, emphasizing inclusivity and participation. Participants had the opportunity to engage and learn from distinguished speakers while actively contributing to the promotion of mental health awareness.

The Counselling Committee, through 'Darpan 3.0,' succeeded in creating a platform that not only educated but also fostered a sense of compassion and mindfulness, echoing J.P. Morgan's sentiment that "the first step towards getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are."

The event was a testament to the college's commitment to holistic education and the well-being of its students and the community at large.

With 'Darpan 3.0,' the college community took a significant step toward fostering a more aware, empathetic, and mentally healthy environment.
